Church Chatter – Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Church Chatter is a community platform designed to help churches communicate and stay connected through announcements, groups, events, prayer requests, messaging, giving, and other community features.

Church Chatter is a platform and brand owned and operated by ChurchMe LLC ("ChurchMe," "we," "our," or "us").

By accessing or using Church Chatter, including our websites, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

We may collect:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Password and login credentials

  • Profile photo

  • Church affiliation

  • Account preferences

User Content

We may collect and store content you create or upload, including:

  • Posts

  • Comments

  • Prayer requests

  • Messages

  • Poll responses

  • Event RSVPs

  • Attendance information

  • Photos, files, videos, and media uploads

  • Group and channel participation

Church & Organization Information

Church administrators and organizations may upload member information and other organizational data to the Services.

Organizations using the Services are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights, permissions, and consents to upload and manage such information.

Giving & Payment Information

Church Chatter may support donations, giving, or payment-related features through Stripe Connect and related payment providers.

Payment information is processed securely by Stripe and related payment processors. ChurchMe LLC does not store full payment card information.

We may collect limited transaction-related information such as:

  • Donation amount

  • Transaction metadata

  • Connected account information

  • Payment status

  • Billing-related information

Church Chatter charges a 0.7% platform fee on donations and payment transactions processed through the platform. This platform fee applies to both card payments and U.S. bank account (ACH) payments.

In addition to Church Chatter’s platform fee, Stripe and related payment providers charge separate payment processing fees. As of the Effective Date of this Privacy Policy, Stripe’s standard U.S. pricing generally includes:

  • Credit and debit card payments: 2.9% + $0.30 per successful transaction

  • ACH / U.S. bank account payments: 0.8% capped at $5 per transaction

Applicable fees may include, without limitation:

  • Church Chatter platform fee: 0.7%

  • Stripe credit/debit card processing fees

  • Stripe ACH / U.S. bank account processing fees

  • Payment network fees

  • Banking and transaction-related fees

During checkout or donation flows, users may be shown the total combined processing and platform-related fees applicable to the transaction. Depending on the selected settings, donors may be provided the option to voluntarily cover some or all applicable fees during checkout.

Automatically Collected Information

We may automatically collect:

  • Device information

  • Browser type

  • IP address

  • Operating system

  • Usage activity

  • Log data

  • Analytics information

  • Push notification tokens

  • Cookies and similar technologies

3. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Services

  • Authenticate users

  • Send notifications and updates

  • Deliver email and push notifications

  • Facilitate church communication

  • Process giving and payment transactions

  • Improve platform functionality

  • Monitor usage and analytics

  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized activity

  • Enforce our Terms

We may also use aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information for analytics, research, business operations, platform improvement, reporting purposes, and to help improve the relevance of sponsored or promoted content within the Services.

4. Information Sharing

We may share information with:

  • Churches and organizations using the Services

  • Service providers and infrastructure partners

  • Payment processors such as Stripe

  • Analytics and communication providers

  • Hosting and cloud providers

  • Email and notification providers

  • Law enforcement or governmental authorities when legally required

  • Parties involved in mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales

We may display sponsored, promoted, advertising, or partner content within the Services.

Sponsored or promoted content may be contextual, community-related, interest-based, or based on limited platform engagement information.

We do not sell personal information to third-party data brokers.

We may also share aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify individual users.

We do not guarantee that any information shared within church communities, groups, channels, or public features will remain private.

5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We may use cookies, pixels, analytics tools, and similar technologies to:

  • Maintain user sessions

  • Improve functionality

  • Analyze usage

  • Measure engagement

  • Improve performance and user experience

Some tracking technologies may be provided by third-party services.

Users may be able to manage certain cookie settings through their browser settings.

6. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide the Services

  • Maintain church communities and records

  • Comply with legal obligations

  • Resolve disputes

  • Enforce agreements

  • Maintain backups and security systems

Deleted information may remain in backups or archived systems for a period of time.

7. Security

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to help protect information.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Users & GDPR Notice

Church Chatter may be accessed by users outside the United States.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with privacy laws, you may have rights under applicable law, including rights to:

  • Access personal data

  • Correct inaccurate information

  • Request deletion

  • Restrict or object to processing

  • Request data portability

  • Withdraw consent where applicable

9. California Privacy Notice

At this time, Church Chatter may not support all automated opt-out or data portability mechanisms.

10. Children’s Privacy

Church Chatter is not directed toward children under 13 without appropriate church, parent, or guardian involvement.

Churches and organizations using the Services are responsible for ensuring appropriate permissions and supervision regarding minors.

If we become aware that information has been collected from a child in violation of applicable law, we may remove the information.

11. Third-Party Services

The Services may integrate with or link to third-party services, including:

  • Stripe

  • Apple

  • Google

  • OneSignal

  • Supabase

  • Vercel

  • Resend

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.

12.Automated and AI-Assisted Communications

Church Chatter may use automated systems and artificial intelligence technologies to generate or distribute certain emails, notifications, reminders, Bible trivia, engagement messages, and other communications. Such content may not always be accurate, complete, or error-free.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

Updated versions will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.

Continued use of the Services after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
